Mocking Jay

   I am currently reading the book Mocking jay by Suzanne Collins. The main character in this book is Katniss Everdeen. She has chose to be the mocking jay, the mocking jay is the leader of the rebels. Katniss wants to kill the president of the capitol which is president Snow. President Snow also wants to kill Katniss because, when she was in the arena for the Hunger Games she disobeyed the rules of the game. To win the game, only one can survive but Katniss wanted Peeta and herself want to win, or they both would had to die. I think the theme of this book is love never dies.
   I think the theme is love never dies is because, the capitol captured Peeta and hijacked is mind to kill Katniss. For example, when the people of district 13 went out to rescue Peeta and got him back. Katniss was full of joy. When she was going to give a big hug to Peeta, he grabbed her by the throat and tried to kill her. As the doctors was trying to get Peeta to remember things, the first thing Peeta remembered was something about Katniss. As each day went by he slowly remembered that he loved Kaniss. For example, Katniss whispered to Peeta "they can never take you away from me, your always mine" Peetah replied, "always." Even when Peetah was hijacked to kill Katniss he can't because he loves her way too much. This shows that their love is very strong.
   In my opinion, Katniss should kill president Snow and declare that the war has ended. That is only because, president Snow is making people in the capitol fight the Rebels. Many people died because of him. I think in the end of the book, Katniss is going to kill president Snow and she and Peeta will get married. Also along the journey of trying to kill president Snow, Katniss's best friend (Gale) will die. This book has a lot of action and romance too it. The book is very interesting. 

My Favorite Reading Responses

One of my favorite reading responses was Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard, this response was written by Helen Rodriguez. What I liked was that, she explained the story very well. I understood what was happening in the story and it seemed like I read the story myself. I also liked how Helen wrote why the person "A" brought the 4 girls together ( Aria, Hanna, Emily, and Spencer) and also destroyed them. For each of the two reasons she expanded her thought about the girls closer and destroyed. Helen's writing is very clear of what she is trying to say that is what i like the best.

What I found interesting was that, Helen's writing is very clear of what she is saying. Her response on the book Pretty Little Liars, was very clear, what the book was about, and the plot. She mentioned how the four girls was brought together and destroyed. When I was reading her response it felt like I have read the book myself. She explained the book really well and understandable.

The second reading response I read was Make Lemonade by Virginia Euwer Wolf, written by Sandra Pacheco. What I liked was that she wrote about her own and character's thoughts. For example she wrote, "La Vaughn didn't know what she was getting into when she took the job as a babysitter. She thought it was going to be easy, since she had a babysitting job before. She didn't know she would be doing a lot of hard work." Also I liked how she gave many examples when she says something in the book.

What I found interesting was that, Sandra used many examples in her response. It makes the response much more easier for the reader to understand the story. She explained the story well and understandable.

Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass

                Ally, Bree, and Jack, are all trying to find a place in the universe when they are all hit with bad news. Ally’s moving to the suburbs, Bree is moving into a campground, and Jack is going to summer school for science. Ally is a type of girl that doesn’t care about anything that anyone says about her. She has this unconditional love for her campground and space. Bree, on the other hand, is the total opposite. All she cares about is boys and appearance, a typical teenage popular girl. And Jack, he’s the kind of boy that see’s the world differently, it’s shown through his artistic values of drawing humans with alien heads! He also has very low self esteem. Sometimes he believes he can’t make it up to the expectations. These three teenagers are brought together because of an upcoming eclipse, creating an unusual friendship. 
      Wendy Mass combines astronomy and reality, in this book. After reading this book, I’ve learned that sometimes the best friendships come from the people you would have never expected it to come from. And always remember that everyone shines differently. If someone shines with singing, doesn’t mean you will too, you could shine by doing something else. Everyone is different, but yet the same.  
      “As long as you know who you are, and see what makes you happy, it doesn't matter how others see you” (Page 67). Happiness is the main point in the lives of these teenagers. They think that what they want will keep them happy, when it is what is needed that will satisfy that condition of emotion. They are struggling to figure themselves out. Three of them aren’t the typical group of friends you usually see. They are all different, so therefore their friendship needed to be worked on.
     In the book, they are trapped in a shack, because of a rainstorm that suddenly came, which led them to bond even more. Each individual helped one another get used to their surroundings. Since Bree was moving into Ally’s campground, Ally was helping her get used to the responsibilities of living in a campground. And Bree was helping Ally get ready for the “real world”. And Jack on the other hand, is all ready to show off the new him!
     My favorite character in this book is Jack. He reminds me of myself sometimes, since he has low self esteem. He believes he can’t reach the level of expectations, just the way I feel. I can empathize with him.
